Aims
The central aim of the TIE project is to make the involved students aware of the diversity of their cultures as well as of common European grounds and to promote European co-operation among young people, as it is expressed in the title of the project: “TIE - Together in Europe”.
The concrete objectives of the partnership are to compare different living conditions in 6 places of 6 different European countries. By doing research on these objectives students should get a better idea of what life is like for their partners in the partner cities and regions. Students should as well make out common structures and experiences which should promote their awareness of being a European citizen.
These objectives are followed by work on 5 different subjects:
- Problems of migration in Europe: reasons for and consequences of emigration/ immigration; Integration or/and discrimination
- Management of environment: what are the different approaches in partner regions?
- Problems of leisure activities for the young: Everywhere the same or important differences?
- Our schools: In which way do they differ and what is their position in the educational system of the country?
- What do people eat? Local and regional habits
To achieve the objectives of TIE, each school is responsible for one of the 5 chosen subjects. Students in charge of a subject have the task to prepare concrete questions of interest and to forward these questions to the partner schools. Partner schools are requested to make remarks on these questions which may lead to modifications. After the agreement about the questions partner schools are supposed to provide the school with the requested information about their own local or regional situation. The responsible school collects and compares the results of 6 schools/places and presents them during a TIE project meeting. After the discussion on the meeting there will be a final documentation: a brochure, a DVD or a CD, depending on the subject. At the end of the project, partner schools will jointly prepare a common guide from these documentations, as the final product of “TIE”.
